| Message | I said "The engine can take serious abuse" but i didn't say it could take more than the VG, the abuse comment was an added bonus point to my bigger argument of weight, position, ease, etc etc (i.e. Plus, it can take serious abuse - not meaning it takes more than any other engine). I wouldn't doubt it could take more abuse, but I don't have figures to prove either way. I just know the VG has large setbacks for track conditions. This is why you'll so often hear "I spun my 5th/6th cylinder bearing on the track" or "I wasn't getting good oil pressure around that corner". I do know the LS is used quite a bit in racing, successfully, even in stock form. As for boost - yes I am concerned about lag, but do you really think there is much/any lag on a 5.7L with a couple "smaller" turbos? Not at all, that is where the displacement comes in handy again ;) Besides, I said "if I ever needed to", as I don't foresee ~400hp N/A in a 2800lb car being much of a problem. To close. Please do research. Compare specs, look at dyno sheets, look at pictures of placement of the ls1 in a z32 bay. I can't believe in the least bit that you've done any reading on what is important to the handling and performance on the track, if you wouldn't agree with how the ls1 would be better suited than the VG. "The Z32 is so nose heavy, I have understeering problems" - LS1 is ~100lbs lighter, and weight is pushed farther back. Do you know what 100lbs does to your lap times? Do you know how well handling is increased with less weight in front of the wheels? The VG can be built to work well in the Z with all proper modifications, I'll use Kuah's car and the guys down at Unique as well as examples. However, imagine taking those cars, taking some more weight off the front of the car, putting that weight back, and giving it an awesome powerband to move it around all parts of the track quicker. That'd be a competitor.
